All the apps I test are introduced into my everyday life so that I can feel their usability on a daily basis.

Founded in 2000, based in Los Angeles, and also known as one of the most recognized dating apps in the world, eHarmony promises to help you find the most compatible person for you. The site boasts of having the best success in matchmaking and most marriages.

The site has quite a long signup process. While it’s a bit time-consuming, it helps the site give you even better matches due to the amount of details it collects. It also discourages the number of people just looking to play games.
When eHarmony was originally launched, it had a whopping sum of 400 questions lined up for new users. These questions took up to an hour plus to complete and would then proceed to create a profile.
However, 5 years back, the site cut the questions down to 150, making the process faster. The questions are very detailed and you can sign up with an email or Facebook. You just have to appreciate the thoroughness they put into profile creation.

The questions contained in the quiz are based on things like psychology, personality, hobbies, political views, etc, and are along the lines of,
“What are three things you are thankful for?” or,
“What best describes your religious beliefs or spirituality?”
It’s really important that you answer them truthfully for the best results.
Profiles on the site are well-versed and aim to give as many important details as possible.
There is an About Me section with quick questions to answer to further enrich your profile.
There are a lot of options available to describe yourself to make you look unique. On your profile, you can describe yourself with things like:
Your eHarmony’s detailed profile is only visible to your matches and vice versa. Also, profile pictures aren’t available to view in the free version. You’ll have to become a Premium member to see your match’s picture on their page.
Your compatibility with a match is also shown in percentages for different aspects like romance, emotional intimacy, social values, and so on.
Because of the depth of the compatibility quiz, the quality of matches is considered to be very high.
Based on your compatibility quiz, you’ll get a score. This score will show how much of a match the other person is to you based on your and their compatibility quiz scores.
You can also change the preferences of the profiling of your matches according to age, ethnicity, location, religion, etc.
eHarmony has around 51 million users, the majority of them aged 25–34.
Their member base spreads across 200 countries, especially the US, UK, and Canada so it is ethnically, racially, and religiously inclusive and has members of all ages.
It is also interesting to note that there are more men on the site than women.
Another feature that makes eHarmony stand out is that there are quick links you can click to ethnic group-specific dating. For example, Asian dating, Black dating, Christian dating, Hispanic dating, Jewish dating, senior dating, and local dating. So if you’re looking to date within a particular community, eHarmony makes it a whole lot easier.
Basing their communication system on customer feedback, the site guides you to get to know a match at your own pace.
You can send quick questions to your matches or go directly to send custom messages or DMs from their profile by clicking ‘message’. If you aren’t exactly stellar at conversing, the site also includes self-generated questions that guide you to ask the difficult stuff.
eHarmony also has a feature that you can use to note the unread questions that you know you need to respond to by highlighting them with bold text.
The site membership may seem a bit pricey, but that just works better to deter people with ulterior motives from the app. There’s also a free trial option that you can cancel at any time.
