I love finding ways to feel God in my day, whether I’m going to work or cooking dinner. I make sure I’m connected to Him by listening to Bible stories, sermons, praying, and singing praise songs. All the apps I test are introduced into my everyday life so that I can feel their usability on a daily basis.
Though “who created God” sounds like a question a little child would ask, it is actually one of the most asked questions among believers, especially in Christian apologetics.
Since skeptics and believers both agree that nothing comes out of nothing, ifa creator didn’t exist, there wouldn’t be earth or anything else for that matter. But since humans, plants and other life exist, something else had to exist from immemorial time to bring what we see into fruition.
Where they draw the line in their agreement, however, is what that something is. Atheists say the cosmos or universe existed from all of eternity and Christians say God existed from all of eternity.
This article answers the question of who made God or where He comes from using Scriptural evidence from the Bible, a book containing information that speaks of things as old as time. What does the bible say about who created God?
The exact origin of the word God is unknown. It is also assumed to be relatively new because the word never appeared in ancient religious texts, yet today it is widely accepted to refer to the Supreme Being in monotheistic religions like Christianity.
Efforts made by linguists and researchers to dig into the origin and etymology of the word could only come up with a few theories. The most common of them is that the root of the present word God is the Sanskrit word ‘hu’ which means to call upon, invoke, or implore.
Today the word God with its capital ‘G’ is defined as the Being perfect in power, wisdom, and goodness who is worshiped (as in Christianity) as Creator and Ruler of the universe.
Speaking about God’s origins, the Bible clearly says that He has existed for all eternity. He was not created nor did He just spontaneously appear out of thin air.
Psalm 90:2 says,
“Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.”
This is wild! The concept of God simply existing and not being created is beyond the understanding of our human minds.
The Bible talks about it in Romans 11:33,
“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!”
To think about it, the concept of an uncreated creator makes sense, because if God was created, we’d also have to wonder who created the one that created God and wonder who created that one also.
The question of origin will keep transferring to each creator until we reach one that wasn’t created. So God being uncreated is very logical.
The question of who created God isn’t exactly right. Nobody made Him because He isn’t human or plant that can be created. He isn’t limited to the narrowness of our human minds but is much more than we can even possibly imagine. Scripture makes us understand that because He is a spirit being, He is not bound by human concepts like time or space.
This does not make Him unreal or unreachable, but He simply has not chosen to reveal to us all that took place before He created the world. God’s paths are beyond our comprehension.
However, His infinite presence and the bit of mystery that surrounds Him are part of what makes Him who He is. If we could understand everything about Him, then He wouldn’t be God.
As we ponder the concept of God’s origins and ask ourselves the age-old question of where God comes from, we also think about when He came into being.
The Bible, talking about how long God has been around, says in Proverbs 8:23,
“From everlasting I was established,
From the beginning, from the earliest times of the earth.”
This verse explains that God existed in eternity, way before creation. No matter how far back we try to cast our minds, whether as back as the age of dinosaurs or even before the foundations of the earth were laid, God has simply always been and will always be.
“Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.”
“Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.”
“Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love”
“For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you”
“who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,”
“16. For by him, all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.
17. And he is before all things, and in him, all things hold together.”
“To the King of ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.”
“Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, he remains a priest perpetually.”
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End: says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Hebrews 13:8 lets us know our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is ageless and changeless, forever faithful, all-powerful, all-knowing, compassionate and gracious, overflowing with wisdom and goodness, loving and always reliable.
Instead of being in doubt about Him always being, we can choose to reflect on His eternal qualities that explain His nature and character. His unfailing love, kindness, and mercy towards us that have always existed and will continue to exist as long as eternity remains.
